Thank you for taking the time to discover more about Clapham School. Like many parents, my wife and I found it challenging to find a school for our children in Chicago that had the unique balance of stellar academics, an authentic Christian worldview, and a community of like-minded parents. We are grateful that the Lord has built a tremendous school at Clapham. We are privileged to have prayed along with others for a gospel infused, truth inspired, and grace abounding school and to have seen Him do His work in and through the school.

In a culture of mediocrity, we have found Clapham to be a genuine place of excellence and high standards where truth, beauty, and excellence are consistently sought from the classroom to the playground. Clapham's educational approach is specifically classical where the best of Western art, literature, and scholarship is systematically studied to best prepare students for the future. Charlotte Mason, the renowned nineteenth century British educator, informs the methods we use to teach, ensuring Clapham is an environment of joyful discovery.

What are the results of an education model like Clapham's? The academic standards are high, as represented by consistently high rankings in standardized tests. In addition, the manners and confidence of Clapham students are often commented on by outsiders. Perhaps most importantly, students are "called up" to a life of service. They are learning that service is not something they go do (although we do regular service projects), but a servant is something they ARE, by God's grace. This kind of an advanced education will no doubt train them to be future leaders, but that's not the goal. The goal is to train up servants for Christ.

Our Vision for Clapham School is a school which prepares hearts and minds for lifelong service to God. We encourage our students to passionately pursue learning while understanding that it is God's truth that leads to life. This life is lived out by serving God and engaging the world by reaching out to others with truth and grace. Thus our mission is two-fold: to prepare the minds of students to engage intelligently with their culture, and to prepare their hearts to follow Christ as they seek to impact their generation for His glory.

We believe that it is God's truth as revealed in the Bible that leads to life, thus our motto Veritas Pro Vita, literally "truth for life." The Scriptures provide the basis for the way we live, work and learn at Clapham School.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream." Jeremiah 17:7-8
